Hello!

My name is Jake. I have B.A. in Psychology and a minor is Sociology, and am currently in school for a Masters in School Psychology. Currently I also work as a teacher's assistant within a Chicago Public School which serves students in special education.

I have years of relevant experience in tutoring, both at an elementary level and high school. As a psychology student I know much about learning theories, and thus feel that I would make a good tutor for your student. Along with one to one tutoring, my teaching experience within a school gives me access to information about current trends and practices in the school setting which may be helpful to your student.

American History

I currently teach American History at the high school level. I have knowledge about it from pre-colonial to modern day, with a great understanding of the Constitution and Revolutionary War period.

I recently completed a course in behavioral statistics receiving an A; I have knowledge of concepts such as mean, median, mode, SD, bell curves, z and t score analysis, ANOVA, SPSS, standardized measures, norms, ect.

Psychology

Psychology is really my bread and butter. I have completed a bachelors in Psychology, and am currently working on a Masters in School Psychology. I am able to tutor an general psychological theory including behaviorism, Gestalt theory, child development, personality, abnormal, educational, ethics, social, cognitive, as well as research methods and the historical foundations of the science.

Special Needs

I currently work as a special education classroom assistant in a special education high school, where we teach students with a variety of disabilities, including ADHD, Autism, and Cognitive Disabilities (Mild to Moderate); I have been doing this for 3 years.

Trumpet

I have approximately 10 years of experience playing the trumpet. I have played many styles including: classical, jazz, big band, orchestral, and wind band. I have also been involved in various groups including: Wind Band, Jazz Band (High school; 1st Chair in each), a Brass Quintet, Orchestras (large group and pit), Marching and Pep Bands.
