WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE ME?
I am an Illinois-certified math and chemistry teacher who has tutored over 1,000 students in math and chemistry in-person or online the past 7 years. I am really personable, down to earth, skilled with words, patient, enthusiastic, and extremely flexible. I understand students and their busy lifestyles, having been a 3-sport student athlete, myself. I travel to tutor students, meeting them at libraries, coffee shops, or in-home.
I have independently offered private tutoring to 24 families, with about equal numbers of high school, college, adult clients, and elementary students. In 2003 I completed a BA at Northwestern University in Biochemistry (3.7 GPA). I just earned my BA in Secondary Education-Mathematics from Northeastern Illinois University with a 4.0 GPA. I have 1 year of experience as a student teacher in Algebra and Geometry in Chicago high schools.
I am a leader. My previous work experience includes conducting motivational outdoor summer workshops for 3 years at Maine East High School, serving as a Teaching Assistant in a biology laboratory, teaching a 10-week seminar on investments and accounting at Northwestern University, doing biomedical research and creating financial models in Microsoft Excel as a Senior Analyst in Investment and Consulting roles, and managing $1.5 million for 12 families as a financial advisor. I bring my 7 years of business experience with me to every tutoring session and try to create real-world applications of math in my sessions with students, where possible.
I hope to be apart of your family's learning process!
