Wendy brings many years of experience as a singer/songwriter and actor to her voice and acting students. She has a B.F.A. in Theater/Voice from The University of Kansas and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. She teaches private and group lessons, out of her home studio in Chicago and also for Virtuoso Performing Arts in Niles. Wendy currently performs with her husband in their roots band The Red Apples and is developing a vocal performance workshop that will debut this fall. She enjoys teaching all ages as well as coaching professionals in various styles of music and theater .

Wendy participated in a year long residency workshop with Z. Cynkutis of Grotowski’s famed Teatr Laboratorium, before coming to Chicago where she studied Meisner technique for several years with Kyle Donnelly and Eileen Vorbach at The Actor’s Center. She has appeared in many productions in the Chicago area including Court Theater, Victory Gardens, National Jewish Theater, Bailiwick Theater , and Prop Theater. Some of her favorite roles include Eliza in My Fair Lady , The Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, and Clover in Animal Farm, (the original Jeff award winning production).
Wendy has sung everything from opera to music theater to jazz/cabaret to rock. She is also a songwriter and has done many original performances in collaboration with composers Ilya Levinson and Jaroslaw Golembiowski.

Although, as a singer, she is classically trained, she has spent many years developing her own style of singing and instruction. She draws from her experiences and training not only in music, but theater and movement, to create a well rounded approach to singing and performing. As an instructor, Wendy is most interested in helping students find their true voice and artistic style. She teaches students to find expression through and with a foundation of technique, rather then in spite of it. Her style is nurturing, yet disciplined, and sprinkled liberally with good natured humor.

She is a nurturing and effective instructor who is excellent at helping actors and singers break through blocks and bad habits, replacing them with dynamic and expressive skills as a performer.

Voice (Music)

Wendy is a professional singer/songwriter and actor working in the Chicago area for many years. She has a B.F.A. in Theater/Voice from The University of Kansas and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. She has been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003, and coaches private and group theater classes emphasizing physical and vocal work. She also teaches both voice and acting at Virtuoso Performing Arts in Niles.
Wendy has sung everything from opera to music theater to jazz/cabaret to rock. She is also a songwriter and has done many original performances in collaboration with various musicians and composers. Wendy is the lead singer of The Red Apples, a roots rock band that plays around the Chicago area. The band was started by Wendy and her husband Ron, and plays an eclectic selection of rock, blues, country and swing, both originals and covers.
Although, as a singer, she is classically trained, Wendy has spent many years developing her own style of singing and instruction. She offers a firm foundation in technique, teaching the basics of sound production, breath support, coordination of registers, development of range and flexibility, and resonation. Wendy will help you understand the mechanics of singing but she will also help you integrate technique into the actual act of singing, to enhance your expressive ability. She draws from her experiences and training not only in music, but theater and movement, to create a well rounded approach to singing and performing. As an instructor, Wendy is most interested in helping students find their true voice and artistic style. She teaches students to find expression through and with a foundation of technique, rather then in spite of it. Her many years of experience singing a wide variety of styles and genres makes her ideally suited for singers looking for training that covers a diverse range of contemporary styles, as well as classical, and jazz standards. Her teaching approach is nurturing, yet disciplined, and sprinkled liberally with good natured humor.
