Ivy League Graduate and former Principal!!

I have taught 5th grade, 7th grade, college-level classes, and was a Principal for 7 years. I also used to manage the standardized testing program for a prominent Chicago private high school. I am a graduate of an east coast ivy league school, but have been in Chicago since grad school. Although I was a Principal, I am not mean!! I will work with you to achieve the academic goals you have. I love young people, including elementary, high school and college students. I have three children of my own (14, 7, and 4). Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is one of my favorite subjects to teach. I am intimately familiar with multiple-step equations, graphing, systems of equations, and all of the rules that are associated with algebra. What I have found is that some students become confused with the introduction on a single variable or multiple variables. My approach is to describe the role of variables in a way that makes algebra far less intimidating.

Economics

My undergraduate major was Economics, but I fell in love with Economics when I took it during my entire senior year of high school. I am very comfortable with both Microeconomics (the actions of businesses and individuals) and Macroeconomics (an examination of the entire economy), having taught both subjects at a local two-year college. I help students to understand the subject using real-life examples, and I utilize graphs to make economics come to life.

ESL/ESOL

I am in the process of getting my second master's degree, and it is an MA in Applied Linguistics: ESL. I currently teach ESL at a local university, where my focus is reading, writing, and conversation. I have worked with students from China, Ecuador, India, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Mexico.
