Hi, I'm Damon. I genuinely enjoy sharing my enthusiasm about math and view it as a mission to help improve math's reputation among the topics of study. I started tutoring as a math grad student working on my PhD, and continued on during and after my academic teaching. In many ways I prefer tutoring to teaching in a traditional classroom setting, because while tutoring I have the luxury of being able to respond specifically to a student’s concerns and craft my message for just one student at a time, as opposed to 30 or more. I’ve been teaching and/or tutoring math for almost 20 years now, and in that time, I’ve helped all ages and abilities to achieve their goals in a wide variety of topics in mathematics.
My primary goal as a tutor is to adapt to each individual's learning style in order to make learning as efficient and fun as possible. I've been told I have a knack for explaining mathematical concepts in a clear and concise way, which is fortunate for me because I genuinely enjoy helping students overcome frustrations to appreciate how much fun math can be.
I'm available to help with all levels of mathematics, including all K - 12 subjects, calculus, probability, statistics, finite math, discrete math, algebra, analysis, and many more.
My scheduling is flexible, whether you'd like to meet just once to get past a particular problem or topic, or more regularly to learn a new topic or improve your grade. So, whether you're in a class and looking to improve your grade, or you're a homeschooler looking to put together a class, or a busy professional getting ready to go back to school or develop a new skill, (or anything else!) let me know and I can help you get there!
