I have been working with children with developmental delays for the past 6 years, and most of that time has been spent in client homes working on IEP goals, behaviors, and social skills. I have also worked one-on-one with students in a classroom setting and as a classroom aide. It is very important for me to have a good rapport with each of my students, and to understand what their needs may be.
Using creative strategies to help teach new concepts and keeping learning fun is my favorite way to work with students. I have also used many tools to assist with getting work done, such as schedules, sensory breaks, and working for small reinforcements. Treating each student as an individual with uniques needs and making each teaching moment special keep students engaged.
