Hi! My name is Oleg. I've been tutoring for about 6 years. I've tutored students ranging in age from 4 years old all the way to 40 years old. I have always retained knowledge very well, and as such, the subjects I tutor are extremely varied. I specialize in math, chemistry, and writing (both formal and creative).

I've regularly improved grades from C's to A's, and D's to B's. My tutoring philosophy is that everyone has the capability to learn every subject that they set their mind to learning; no one is nor ever was "beyond help". All that iss needed is the right approach.

I have a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as an EIT (Engineer-In-Training) certification from the IDFPR (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation).

I'll be attending graduate school at IIT starting in August 2013 to pursue a Master of Chemical Engineering degree (MChE).

Chemistry

Chemistry is often a difficult subject to master, as most people are inclined toward either the highly mathematically-oriented nature of physics, or the very visual nature of biology. Chemistry is a combination of these two things. I can help people coming from either side of the spectrum master this challenging subject.

Precalculus

Pre-calculus is arguably one of the toughest math topics because it introduces many different concepts that are needed for calculus. Some of these topics are somewhat unconnected, and it makes it challenging for many people to learn.
I have experience explaining the material in an easy-to-understand manner.

Composition (Music)

I have been playing the piano since age seven, guitar since age thirteen, and writing music since age thirteen. I've also taken classes taught by instructors that have had their music featured in both movies and commercials.

Elementary (K-6th)

When I worked as a tutor for a tutoring company, a lot of the kids I tutored were K-6. The main difference between tutoring younger kids and older kids is that younger kids have a shorter attention span. However, they tend to learn quicker, and it is easier to show them how interesting learning can be. I've developed several strategies that enable me to be an effective K-6 tutor.

The MCAT is one of the trickiest standardized tests to take. While I have never taken the MCAT myself, I have taken all required subjects for the MCAT, including biology, physics, and chemistry (including organic chemistry.

ADD/ADHD

ADD is very tough to deal with. Most psychiatrists will prescribe adderall and ritalin, and while these do help focus, they feel terrible, and create loss of appetite and withdrawal from social activities, as well as occasionally depression.
