I began teaching guitar in the summer of 2000 and have worked with hundreds of students ranging from age 5 to 65. I love to teach and perform a wide range of styles though I specialize in classical and rock/pop guitar. Whether you are just picking up the guitar or you have played for a while and are looking to expand your horizons, I will commit to making your learning experience fun and fulfilling!
In addition to my own private studio, I have earned valuable experience as director of the guitar program at Frostburg State University in western Maryland from 2008-2012. There, I gave private lessons to both music majors and non-major guitar students, led performances with the guitar ensemble, and taught music theory, music appreciation, and group guitar classes.
On the pop/rock side of my experience, I spent three wonderful years teaching private lessons and coaching student rock bands at Music Workshop in Baltimore, MD. This is a state-of-the-art music facility that utilizes high-end software and hardware, virtual amps, Garageband, and a fully equipped recording studio.
I work well with both children and adults, and I like to tailor my curriculum to each student's musical taste while making sure to cover all the necessary fundamentals. I like to begin lessons with a student by finding out what their own goals are and formulating a plan of study to help them achieve those goals.
I also enjoy tutoring English, Math, Reading, History, and Social Studies, and have experience working with special needs students.
Whichever subject you or your child need some help with, I will endeavor to offer the most efficient and supportive tutoring possible. I look forward to working with you!
