I have had experience in the general education English classroom functioning as a special education teacher. I create modifications to the general education assignments and tests. I also provide individualized instruction to special and general education depending on their needs. I have taught in grades 9 through 12,especially the junior level. I have been involved in preparing our students for the PSAT tests in Spring. I have been working in this area over ten years. I have extensive knowledge and experience in the writing processes for students. I am retiring next year, but want to continue the rewarding experiences and fulfillment of the past 33 years.

We worked on grammar, word usage and answering different types of questions depending on the discipline (reading passages from science, social studies, the humanities, etc.). I believe I have some materials. I'll have to look around.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified to teach elementary education by the state of Illinois. I received my B.A. in elementary education from the University of Illinois in Chicago. I completed student teaching a 6th grade class in Oak Park, Ill. I also worked in elementary schools in Chicago teaching units in Math,Reading, Science and Social Studies. I taught at Christopher Elementary school for a year and tutored students in my spare time.

Study Skills

I have worked with general and special students with their English (Language Arts) work after school, in resource rooms and during cooperative team teaching classes in Language Arts. A big part of my work involved assisting them with their organization of materials, planning when and how to complete a project and preparing for exams.I also assisted with planing out the steps they needed to address in writing research papers and analyzing literary works when writing.
