Hi students and parents, I have my Associates in Paraprofessional Education and my Bachelors in Psychology. I am currently a preschool teacher at a Christian daycare and enjoy working with children daily. I have been tutoring for the majority of my adulthood. I have worked with students from grades Preschool through high school in various subject areas such as mathematics, language arts, reading, psychology, spanish, science, and social studies. I have also worked with students with different learning disabilities. I have previously tutored through agency and also privately. I am bilingual speaking English and Spanish as well as reading and writing both languages. My methods vary depending on the individual student. Each student is unique and should be able to achieve the level of success in their academics where they feel confident with themselves. Thank you for considering me and I look forward to working with your child.

I worked for two years in special education classroom which included two students who were diagnosed with ADD and I followed a special curriculum that was based on the IEP that was formatted for their learning. I have also taken various courses in children with disabilities. I am able to work with children using various techniques and have learned to study the child and their attention span in order to be able to assist them properly.

Algebra 1

I have a strong background in tutoring in the area of algebra 1. I have worked with various students in the grade levels of Kindergarten through college. My methods for this subject depend on the ability of the student. Once I am working with the student I can see where the difficulty is taking place and use that to be able to help them better understand the materials.

Algebra 2

I have a strong background in tutoring in the area of mathematics which includes algebra 1, algebra 2, elementary mathematics.

Business

I am a business major with a MBA in business administration with a concentration in Operations Management. I have also ran my husbands business along side with him for over 10 years. I have completed many courses in business such as marketing, financing, and operation management.

Elementary (K-6th)

While working previously as a tutor, I worked with students in grades K-12 in the areas of Mathematics, Language Arts, and Reading.

Elementary Math

I have a strong background in tutoring in the area of mathematics. Mathematics seems to be an area where many young children struggle. By working closely with them, I can see where that area is and work with the student in order to better understand skills on how to be able to complete the mathematical concepts.

Grammar

Grammar is an important aspect in students of any age. Being able to understand grammar and all of the aspects of grammar are important in order for the student to be a successful in their academics. Knowing how to work with the student in order for them to understand takes patience and planning.

Phonics

Phonics is the concept of being able to understand and pronounce words correctly using the proper letter sounds or blended letter sounds. By practice and using different examples and techniques, a student can learn to pronounce words correctly with ease. I have worked with young children in the area of phonics in the grades kindergarten through 8th grade. I have had to create unique curricula for each child so that they may learn at their own abilities. In college I took a course in child reading literacy which assisted in different techniques to use or create in order to assist these children in the different phonics areas.

Proofreading

Proofreading in an important aspect in reading and writing. A student needs to understand what it is that they are writing and making sure that the writing makes sense and flows smoothly.

Reading

I have always had a strong background in tutoring in the area of reading. I have worked with various students in the grade levels of Kindergarten through college. My methods for this subject depend on the ability of the student. Once I am working with the student I can see where the difficulty is taking place and use that to be able to help them better understand the materials.

Spelling

Spelling is an area where many students have difficulty. With the English language we know that the way a word sounds is not necessarily how it is spelled. Being able to give the students concepts and ideas to study and recognize the different spelling of words is an important task in order for them to be able to understand their readings and write successfully.

Study Skills

Many students have no idea how to manage their study skills. Having the proper materials and learning what works for them in order to be able to study the necessary materials for any assignment or test is crucial. During my studies I took a couple courses in regards to classroom management and study skills. Within these courses we learned that many children learn differently and that they need to learn how to organize and prepare for each of their classes and the tests that are involved in each class.

Vocabulary

Vocabulary is an aspect of reading and writing that is essential. Understanding the meaning of words whether by definition or by context clues can help the student to understand their readings smoothly.

Writing

I have a strong background in tutoring in the area of language arts which includes spelling, proofreading, vocabulary, and writing skills.
