I am a teacher, plain and simple.
I tried teaching in public schools, but there was far too much policing and politics, and not nearly enough teaching for me. I work best in small environments, one-on-one or in small groups. I've worked for, and excelled with students at Sylvan, Kaplan, Cambridge, and as a one-on-one tutor on my own for many years. I also have two years of public school teaching, and have worked as a substitute and a summer school teacher.
Currently, I am a teacher for Linden Oaks Hospital, a mental health hospital in Naperville, where I help students who are suffering from a mental illness: depression, school anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders and more. I teach all ability levels and in all areas every single day. I also help students who need it with study skills, organization, and building self-confidence.
My subject of choice is math; I can handle anything up to and including some calculus, though my skills at that level are a bit rusty. I am an avid reader and writer, and actually made my living for a year as a freelance writer for various websites on the internet as a private contractor, so I am very skilled in that area as well.
