The student must come first with focus on their interests, strengths, and future goals being most important in driving how learning about a subject is approached. In my personal quest to better communicate with others I have studied English
and plant biology
. I've successfully tutored math
at the college level while working on my AAS of Architecture
and in my previous work history
have more than 5 years of computer
training experience. I also have completed a bachelor of science
with a major in mathematics
and a minor in English writing
from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and I have recently completed a master of science from the Northwestern University & Chicago Botanic Garden's Plant Biology & Conservation graduate program.
Math: Math can be challenging to learn, but it can also be a lot of fun. My goal is to help students discover ways to learn and understand math that work best for them. Math is beautiful and ultimately every branch of math is connected which means for one problem there can be many approaches.
English: I firmly believe that the best way to improve writing is to focus on what is working and then to consider how the message of the author can be improved. The rules of writing can be used to strengthen and support the author's message. Some writers are good at presenting a meaningful message while others are good at artfully formatting their piece; while excellent writers do both. I have and continue to read extensively and through my education and writers groups have participated in many literary criticisms and writing workshops.
Biology: Biology is all about processes, and the amazing thing about these processes is they're all connected. Through MS I have learned many laboratory techniques as well as how to put together lab reports, hypotheses, and plan field studies & experiments. I also am familiar with major ideas of ecology
and biology. My research primarily focused on soil ecology and photosynthesis in relationship to the success of a population of plants.

It's fixable! It will take daily practice, but if they consistently work on it they will improve. If you've already tried penmanship books, you should probably consider a tutor or signing them up for a course. There are 3 major components to good handwriting:
1: how the pen/pencil is held, 2:...
Since this seems to have a problem, here's an example that will work nicely:
If a class has 147 students, and 6/14 are girls and 4/7 are boys, then how many girls and boys are in the class?
Girls = 6/14 = 3/7 of the class, now multiply the fraction to the number of...
Draw a circle, then draw the squares. For the inscribing square draw a diagonal line connecting two opposite corners.
The circumscribing square is the easiest, it has side length of 173cm, since the diameter of the circle is 173cm and each side of the square touches the circle.
