Hello!

I grew up in Hong Kong until I was 12 and finished high school and college in California. I am a music therapist and have also been giving private piano instruction for the last 11 years. I have been tutoring English and Math since 2006 and my students consider me amiable and on task. I really enjoy approaching problems in many different ways and will gear toward your interests when explaining a concept.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been tutoring English and Math since 2006, and I have experience working with children ages 4-12 from leading music groups over the last year.

I also give private piano lessons and adaptive lessons to children ages 4-15.

Sight Singing

I tutored sight singing (solfege) for three years at the University of the Pacific. I work well with college students and still use those skills as a music therapist.

Chinese

I lived in Hong Kong until I was 12 and studied Chinese from first to seventh grade. I also attend a Chinese church and am fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and Cantonese (Intermediate level). In summer 2007, I went on a trip to China and taught English to young professional golfers, and conversed with them in Chinese.

ESL/ESOL

I enjoy conversing with new immigrants from China and teaching them the English language (including parts of speech, expanding their English vocabulary, etc.).

In Summer 2007, I went on a trip to Bulgaria and taught English with a team from the US at an English summer camp for Bulgarian college students.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
