I graduated Summa Cum Laude from DePaul University in Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and minors in American Sign Language (ASL) and Sociology. I specialize in tutoring in American Sign Language for students who are interested in learning ASL to students at the advanced level. I have extensive experience tutoring college students in ASL in which I assess each students ASL skills in order to develop language goals based on each student's learning profile. Additionally, I produce ASL activities and visuals that incorporate facial expressions, emphasizing grammatical features of ASL and vocabulary concepts pertaining to each lesson. I continually research ASL events that serve to strengthen each student's ASL knowledge and comprehension of Deaf culture through the development of ASL conversational skills by interacting with members of the Deaf community. I have extensive experience evaluating each student's ASL video projects, conversational skills, and the utilization of proper grammatical structure and I am committed to providing additional feedback as an avenue to ameliorate the ASL skills of each student. I am dedicated to teaching American Sign Language and I continually welcome feedback following tutoring sessions. Lastly, I am able to travel to a location that works best for the student.
I look forward to hearing from you!
I received my minor in American Sign Language (ASL) from DePaul University and I have four years of extensive experience serving as an ASL tutor for students at DePaul University, specializing in ASL grammar, syntax, and vocabulary concepts. While at DePaul University, I served as the ASL club president; therefore, I created ASL lesson plans for each meeting, which included vocabulary, Deaf events in Chicago, influential Deaf figures, and ASL games highlighting the importance of ASL grammar.
