Hello,

I am currently an Illinois certified teacher for ESL and Language Arts subject areas. I have been around children helping them develop their academic skills in English language ever since my years in college, when I would tutor middle school and elementary aged school children in all content areas, mainly reading and writing, social studies and math.

Presently, I am pursuing a Master's in Reading/ESL to provide struggling readers with the tools needed to become successful in their ISAT and ACCESS exams, and in their overall academic goals. In addition, I am Wilson Reading System trained in teaching reading and writing. I have two active children in elementary school who stay busy with extracurricular activities like drawing, chorus, band, and sports.

Elementary (K-6th)

To get certified to teach elementary grades, I passed the content area test administered by Illinois state board of education for elementary K-9.That includes elementary core curriculum, such as reading, math, social studies and science.

Phonics

I have completed the Wilson Reading System Program training. This is an comprehensive curriculum that focuses on primary decoding deficits, providing systematic instruction in Phonics/Phonemic awareness, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.

Study Skills

I have completed a workshop on study skills called Project CRISS, and it is teaching students to plan and manage their own learning independently through student-owned strategies like stop-and-think, read-and-say-something, activate prior knowledge, use of graphic organizers, and anticipation guides.

ESL/ESOL

I have a BA in English as a Second language with concentration in English language and Literature. As a result, I have state certificate in ESL to teach K-12. I've taught ESL, Language Arts and Reading to bilingual students for almost 2 years.

The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
