I am an Northwestern Grad with a degree in Expository Writing. I also possess a Teaching Certification/Degree from Northeastern. I am an experienced math and writing tutor who will teach basic math concepts and/or expository writing with patience and strong communication skills.
My previous math tutoring has focused on fractions, decimals, algebra, geometry, negative numbers, square roots, exponents, scientific notation, and percents. In addition, we can utilize the Khan Academy website to enforce and review basic math concepts and fundamentals.
My undergrad major consisted of being a member of a writer’s workshop. My grammar and spelling skills are solid. For English, my favorite activity would be acting out and interpreting literature by reading plays out loud together, and taking roles or parts for each character.
I have taught ages 8-15. I was a volunteer tutor for many years at the Francis Scott Key School near Oak Park. I also taught Junior Achievement while working in the corporate world.
Tutoring would be provided in your home at $25.00 per hour. We could also meet at the nearest public library. I may also be able to set up sessions online.
