Update on my review below:
We received the results from the September ACT test and, with only 4 hours of help from Alison, our daughter's Math score improved by an incredible 7 points!! This improvement contributed tremendously to her Composite score, opening up opportunities for automatic scholarships from several Big Ten Universities (Many Big Ten Universities provide automatic scholarships for ACT score/GPA combinations.) So, with an investment of less than $300 on tutoring with Alison, we can save $20,000 on our daughter's college education over 4 years. Now that's a return on investment!
Alison has worked with my daughter for 3 sessions now on preparation for the math section of the ACT. The first two sessions were very helpful to her, as Alison showed her faster ways of working the problems out and explained concepts that my daughter had not seen for a couple of years. During the 3rd session, however, they really connected, and my daughter said it was very valuable to her.
It became evident to me that by the end of the 2nd lesson, Alison had a good understanding of where my daughter's trouble areas were and focused the 3rd lesson on her particular weaknesses. Additionally, Alison took the time to identify and send us specific math problems that my daughter should work on prior to the 4th session to make sure the concepts are mastered.
I would highly recommend Alison for ACT math review or general math tutoring!

Alison was always prompt to our meetings and prepared. She had tips and tricks to make the concepts easier to understand. If I did not understand something she would either explain it in another way or create a new practice problem for me to try out. She also made math notes for me to take for further study. After each lesson Alison sent a link with resources I could use to cement what we had reviewed. I had to pass the IL teachers TAP test and I know that would not have happened without those four hour long session with Alison. It was worth the investment.

She never rushed through her explanations and always made sure that he had a complete understanding. Alison is extremely knowledgeable in her field. She really prepares and is always on time. She is very flexible, easy to reach and very professional. With a lot of determination and hard work, which my son has always hated, he has done pretty well in math. However last year he missed a whole semester, so we hired Alison for 2 weeks to bring him up to date. Not only is she doing a fabulous job, my son is actually enjoying it and thinks math is easy now.
