My love for teaching started early in my life as I helped fellow students who were having trouble with classes. My first job ever was as a peer tutor at the community college where I started my academic career. Because I was in the honors program, I was allowed to tutor in almost every subject. I loved it!
After years in the public and private sector in jobs in communication, I rediscovered teaching when I went back for my MA. Because graduate studies requires you to do a lot of presenting, I realized how much I loved being in front of the class, and I decided to pursue a teaching career. Right after I graduated with my MA, I was accepted by a PhD program, and before I knew it, I was studying for my doctorate degree, and I was teaching part-time.
Soon enough, I took a full-time teaching position, and I have been in that field ever since.
My BA was in media Studies with a minor in English. My MA was in communication & technology. My Ph.D. was in an interdisciplinary program which combined English, communication, cultural studies, etc.
I have taught composition, creative writing, communication, speech, publish speaking, film, cultural and media studies, and critical thinking, among other classes. I am comfortable with all levels of ability and all learning styles.
I believe everyone can succeed with the right attitude, the right help, and the right tools.
Let's get to work!
