Hello, my name is Theresa and I have been a nurse for over 10 years. I have been enrolled and working towards a master's degree in nursing education for the last couple of years. I believe my nursing experience will allow me to assist students in whatever nursing or related subject that they need help in.
My teaching philosophy is that I believe every student learns in a very individual way and my job would be to find the method that allows the student to learn topics easier and succeed in clinical situations and testing because together we have found a way to ensure knowledge retention and application.
A little bit about myself: I believe I am very patient, smart and excellent at helping others learn new things. My favorite and most rewarding experiences have come when I see a student reach that "Ah ha" moment. I describe myself as a nerd, only because I LOVE school, learning new things, and then passing that knowledge on to others. There is no greater reward for a teacher than that moment. As a nurse, that moment often comes with patient interaction, so in many ways, a nurse is already a teacher whether they realize or not, education of patients happens continuously in nursing. So it is a natural step for me as a nurse to want to add that teacher component in officially.
