Any motivated person can learn mathematics. Many people don't believe that but after bringing many of my students' grades from D's and F's to A's and B's, I think it is possible. Students need a combination of practice, a good teacher, and proper motivation to succeed. Practice is listed first since it is the most important by far.
My undergraduate degree in mathematics was completed at Grand View in Des Moines and I am currently a graduate student in Statistics at ISU.
I have also passed the first two actuarial exams so could help with those topics as well. I prefer working with high school and college students, including adult students but will consider younger ages as well. I also scored highly on the GRE with scores in the 91st and 90th percentiles in the quantitative and verbal sections respectively.
I really enjoy mathematics and hope to impart some of my enthusiasm onto others.
Also, I am married with three children ages 6, 7, and 12 so I understand it can take some patience to help someone understand a concept.
Excellent! — Richard is very knowledgeable and a great teaching tutor. He is teaching my daughter Algebra 2 and really cares that she understands the basics and that she understands without using a calculator. Highly recommend! ...
