I have a Bachelor's of Science in electrical engineering technology from DeVry University in Kansas City, MO. I have also taken Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Complex Number Analysis(i^2=-1), Advanced Statistics, and Partial Differential Equations at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. I have never received a grade lower than a B in any college math class!
In my experience what holds back a majority of students in mathematics is the usage of fractions, and the proper manipulation of equations in order to isolate the variable(x=??). In the end the student has to be willing to "do the work" required to improve in any subject
I have tutored students for Pre-Algebra, Calc(1,2,3), Geometry, Trig/Pre-Calc, Physics 1 & 2, SAT/ACT Math, GMAT problem reasoning and math.
In regard to ACT math tutoring, I guarantee that if a students receives at least 6 hours a week of tutoring for at least 3 weeks in ACT MATH I guarantee a minimum of 5 points of improvement. Of course the student has to be willing to "DO THE WORK"!
