I lived and worked in Mexico for over ten years and have my own business as a Spanish Interpreter/Translator. I have taught either Spanish, ESL, English or Business at DMACC, Drake, AIB, Upper Iowa, Ankeny Community Schools Adult Ed and Kaplan. I have also been a tutor for many years to persons of all ages and walks of life. I have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a minor in Spanish and an MBA, with additional postgraduate studies in linguistics and Spanish.

Though being a student and my extensive experience as a teacher and tutor, I am adept at breaking down concepts to make them simpler. I lived, worked, and had a family in Mexico City, Mexico for over 10 years. I also lived in Spain for a few months and have traveled to many Spanish-speaking countries. I have an M.A. in Spanish as well as an MBA in International Business.

TOEFL

I have taught TOEFL class at Drake University in Des Moines. I also have worked with students of English of a Second Language both in Mexico and the U.S. for 30 years. I lived in Mexico for 10 years, so know the challenges of learning a foreign language. I hope I can make the TOEFL a little easier and more fun.

ASVAB

I have helped many with the ASVAB. I have an MBA, have taught and tutored for over 35 years, and my son is at the U.S. Naval Academy, so I commend you for wanting to serve!

ESL/ESOL

I taught ESL in Mexico City for over ten years and at DMACC and Drake for over 5 years. I have the added understanding of having learned a foreign language myself, so can transfer that experience into my teaching and tutoring.

I have a B.A. in Business Administration from UNI and an MBA in International Business with an emphasis in Latin America from The American Graduate School of International Management. I have worked in the corporate world both in the U.S. and Mexico in the areas of industrial marketing, import/export, and market research. I have taught Business Management at Kaplan University and International Marketing at Upper Iowa University.

Public Speaking

I have been a member of Toastmasters International for over ten years. I have also taught speech at DMACC one semester. I have a lot of experience listening to boring, ineffective speeches, as well some that have been truly inspiring.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
