Aloha!

I have been working professionally with computers as well as writing, playing, and recording music for longer than most people I know. I also started migrating from film photography (Nikkormat FT2) to digital photography in 2001. Since then I have become an expert at taking and manipulating (editing) photographs digitally. I have combined these experiences and skills to include video production.

I can train you to improve your personal computer and network operations knowledge and progress quickly to becoming self-sufficient (incl. managing WiFi) as a user or administrator. This means using and managing your computers at home or at your business along with all the popular applications usually required such as Microsoft Office.

I can also teach you how to manipulate and integrate multimedia products and technologies for personal, business or web presentation and use.

I began digitally recording my original acoustic music in the mid-90's and taught myself HTML in 1995 to create my own web site and help promote my music and independently produced CD's. The Internet just started exploding then because of browsers and search engines. I jumped in and learned by doing. I was an artist on the original MP3.com for downloading music over dialup. I digitally recorded my music on a workstation and produced the master gold disk and CD package layout format before most unsigned artists knew how. Before that I had over 10 years of experience writing software for PC business applications, including writing documentation and providing customer service.

I went on to help pioneer the realm of HD recording and 5.1 surround sound in 2000. I made history working with the Sony SACD project as an independent artist in the new 5.1 SACD audio format. Recently this format has evolved into DSD Downloads and DSD Disc which are at the very top of the audiophile community's digital music interests. I have in-depth understanding and experience manipulating the various audio formats (WAV, AIFF, MP3, 96/24, DSD, many others) to achieve the quality desired for recording, streaming or download.

MY GOALS AS A TUTOR:
--------------------
What I hope to do working through WyzAnt is to help anyone who is overwhelmed with the endless types of products and services out there for computer software and apps, digital cameras, digital music, downloads, WiFi and security issues, iPhones, iPods, etc. to quickly understand the basics and become very proficient with all of the media and technology they are interested in. I believe I can open big doors in a short time in this regard through training and documentation.

There is no age range or limit! I have worked with younger and older folks in all aspects of these areas in the past and enjoyed all of it, from preschool ages to seniors.

I am expert in the PC/Windows arena. I know of and personally use many high quality and 100% free and legal (freeware) applications that apply to these categories for music recording, music libraries, CD or LP archiving, art/graphics, photo cataloging and editing, web design, data backup, word processing, spreadsheet, Powerpoint, email, firewall, anti-virus, and others.

I can show you simple and low cost or free ways to manage things that tend to get over-hyped and over-marketed, urging customers to spend a lot, only to end up confused about how to use it all.

I can teach you to be proficient with these aspects of your professional and/or hobby interests.

I play guitar primarily and have been recognized as a professional singer/songwriter in the worldwide community of independent artists. I played classical music on piano through my college years where I was also accepted to the school of music. I can teach anyone how to read music for piano. I can also teach anyone how to play guitar using chord charts or by ear. I am a songwriter and an expert fingerstyle guitarist and can also teach this to anyone interested.

Combining music and technology in the form of digital recordings, photos, video, web presentations, publications and CD layout/packaging is something I have worked diligently and professionally at since the mid-90's and would like to assist others with through tutoring.

So if you would like to learn how to organize, optimize, secure or just improve your understanding of computers and the Internet at home at at your business, I have lots of experience and patience to teach you. This may also be combined with the wide variety of multimedia technology out there (music, video, photos) to suit your needs and interests.

Finally, I have also written and edited hundreds and possibly thousands of documents over the years, ranging from user guides, web content and product information, to highly technical documents and patent applications. I can help train and assist anyone in these areas as well.

Best Regards!
- David
