As an experienced editor, self-published author, and proficient speaker of six languages including Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and conversational Mandarin Chinese, I'm especially passionate about helping both children and adults develop and refine the expression of their ideas through language. I completed my Bachelor's degree with honors at Stanford University in Stanford, California, with an emphasis in East Asian Studies and psychology, and have served as an international educator and freelance academic consultant for the past twelve years. Algebra 1

Able to assist new students in gaining beginner- to intermediate-level proficiency in spoken and written French, including knowledge of grammar structures, pronunciation, and cultural references.

Prealgebra

I have recent experience tutoring students in grades 1-7 in all levels of math up to and including pre-algebra via the No Child Left Behind teaching initiative.

Spanish

Able to assist students in gaining beginner-level proficiency in Spanish conversation, based on informal studies in the U.S. and abroad.

Writing

As a former recipient of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Award for Outstanding Essay Composition, I seek to assist students in refining their overall writing ability and understanding of effective paragraph and sentence structuring, etc.

Portuguese

I am able to assist students in mastering all aspects of the Portuguese language as it is spoken in Brazil, based on several years spent living and traveling in the country as well as intensive at-home study.

Japanese

I am able to instruct new and intermediate-level students in all aspects of spoken Japanese.

SAT Math
