In High School I took 4 years of math and in undergrad I took 8 semesters of math, including pre-calculus, calculus and analytical geometry (2 semesters), differential equations, and engineering mathematics. These courses included virtually all the topics in Discrete Math. I taught algebra II to freshmen and pre-calculus to juniors and seniors at the International School Singapore.
I received a 36 on my ACT Math and I have tutored my son for the ACT (he received a 34 in math). When I took the GRE I scored at the 96% on Quantitative Reasoning.

Ecology

In Graduate School I took 13 semester hours of Ecology classes. The main focus of my PhD research was Behavioral Ecology. I have taught a variety of Biology and Zoology courses at two Universities (Univ of Hawaii and Maryland), including Principles of Zoology, Principles of Biology, Marine Biology, Animal Behavior, and Ichthyology – each of these courses had an Ecology component. The High School courses I taught all had Ecology components.

Elementary Math

In High School, I took 4 years of math and in undergrad I took 8 semesters of math. I received a 36 on my ACT Math and I have tutored my son for the ACT (he received a 34 in math). When I took the GRE I scored at the 96% on Quantitative Reasoning. I taught High School IB Math at International School Singapore and at St John's High School.

Elementary Science

I have a large amount of experience in many science fields. I have a PhD in Zoology, which included 129 semester hours of Biology or Biology related courses (Zoology, Biochemistry, Botany, Physiology). At the US Naval Academy I took 2 semesters each of General Chemistry, Physics, Meteorology, and Oceanography plus one semester each of Fluid Physics, Geology, Waves and Tides, Oceanic and Atmospheric Processes, and Underwater Acoustics. I have been using personal computers since 1982, and am experienced with Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems, in an office/management environment, the academic world, and with professional printing companies. I am adept with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Acrobat, Photoshop, Quark and many other assorted programs.

Genetics

Prior to getting a PhD I had to take a diagnostic test that included genetics, which I passed. All the Introduction to Biology/Zoology courses I taught included a section on genetics, covering Punnett squares, dominance, heredity, gene loci/mapping, mutations, gene sequencing, etc. The AP Biology course I taught went into greater detail on all these genetic topics. I feel I was very successful in teaching these difficult concepts.
