Tutoring, to me, is a form of 1-on-1 teaching. As I am looking to finish up my Teaching Certification, the opportunity to tutor students in Math would be a great experience for both of us!
In my 3 years in West Virginia, I served as a substitute (mostly at the Middle School.) I also had two separate stints as a long-term substitute for 7th Grade Math and 6th Grade Math. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the students more than I already did. Most of them I knew through umpiring baseball.
I love trying to find new and different ways to portray mathematical solutions to this age group, as most find it very challenging. I have taken classes all the way up through Calculus III, however, I would need just as big of a refresher course in the upper level ones (Statistics, Pre-Cal, and some Trig I could probably still do.)
I feel like the down to earth, real-life scenarios are the best way to transfer the information and knowledge I have gained throughout my time as both a student, and a sub.
I'm free Monday-Saturday. Thursday Nights would need to be a bit earlier than the rest, but feel free to contact me!!
