Hello all, my name is Lisa. I am a resident in Woodstock/Towne Lake, GA. I have over twenty years of experience working with families, children of all types and "ways of learning" in education and social abilities. I am a tutor and advocate for all children and am compassionate and understanding in the needs of all. I am well versed in teaching children with special needs such as dyslexia, autism, ASD, ADHD, vision and hearing disorder.

I have worked in the mental health setting both privately and publicly with people of all ages structuring programs centered around "the different way each individual learns" and have experience in the Orton-Gillingham methods. I have complete training with the diagnosis' of dyslexia, sensory processing disorder, auditory processing disorder, ADHD, and multi-sensory based disorders. I am very resourceful for families and students alike. I have decades of experience assisting families and children with developing Individual Educational Plans that best suits the need of the child.

I will benefit the needs of children and their families by listening to the need and wants for the individual/s. It is through listening that resolution can and will be met in teaching to solve the problem at hand. I have also been blessed with two special needs children and have gained more experience personally, aside from my professional background to benefit those that I am tutoring.

I strongly believe that every individual learns different; it is important to "proper way of how one learns". This method of thinking will only increase one's ability to learn, increase one's confidence and allow the success deserved by all.

I appreciate the opportunity to serve you and look forward to speaking with you soon. I will gladly provide all needed background checks upon being contacted.

Thank you,
Lisa

ADD/ADHD

I have professional and personal experience with training working with many types of disabilities such as ADD/ADHD and dyslexia and auditory processing disorders. I have two children with this type of special needs and having worked with many therapists and therapies and ADD training courses over the last 20 years, it will be easy to understand how I can be of assistance to the child and their learning environments as well as educate their parents how to help them further in their development educationally. I have worked 10 years with many different children and adults in two developmental mental health facilities. The age ranges of the children I have worked with in my lifetime are from 0-100 and the disabilities are developmental, physical, emotional and mental ranging from Dyslexia, Auditory processing, ADD/ADHD, psychological disorders, PTSD, Autism, Asperger’s, and developmental disorders. I began my career only with the compassion to assist everyone that needed a second chance. Children are unique, all learn differently and it is my opinion and advocacy that it is the adults in their lives to learn how to teach them how they learn because any child with a learning disability is special and unique.

Aspergers

My experience with Asperger's comes from working with a student with the diagnosis. I can offer solutions with the child and their parents with job training as well as building on the child's strengths in a social and educational environment. Asperger's individuals are high functioning but struggle with social and appropriate communique situations and with my experience and training, I will offer behavior management tips and programs to the guardians and teachers and work with the child to teach him or her cues in going forward with their daily living skills. I have worked in the mental health setting both privately and publicly with people of all ages.

Autism

My experience is professional and personal. I have a daughter that has mild autism associated with many different other diagnosis. Also, my training in my professional career has offered experience with autism and the many associated types of therapies that aide a child with Autism such as sensory and auditory training in multidisciplinary fashions. My educational background offers advocacy and liaison to aide the guardians of the child to assist them in training and understanding to better deal with the educational processes such as IEP's.

Dyslexia

My training comes from professional and personal experience additionally working with different therapies that my two children have had over the last 20 years. I have had personal training to better educate and assist my children with different types of methods for dyslexics. Sensory and Auditory processing therapies are beneficial to a child with dyslexia. Orton and Wilson therapies and manipulatives are great tools in teaching a dyslexic child to read and expand their comprehension levels. Sign language is a very beneficial tool to help the student with spelling. I will teach the student and the parent how to advocate and offer resources for them and work as a team with the parent in any and all IEP's goals applicable to their student.

Sign Language

I gained experience early in my career some 20 plus years ago. I have maintained sign language skills over the course of my lifetime to include teaching my children who are special needs. My daughter could not speak for the first 7 years of her life and signing was all she could do to communicate after I began using it with her to adapt to her world. I taught my son because he had neurological hiccups with communication with reading and processing and spelling. After teaching him how to sign in his early years, he is now using the language and has increased his reading and spelling levels significantly. I have used the sign language throughout my life because it is a beautiful language and there are so many children and adults who are 'left out' because others in their world cannot communicate in their language called signing.

Special Needs

I have professional and personal experience with training working with many types of disabilities such as ADD/ADHD and dyslexia and auditory processing disorders. I have two children with these type of special needs and having worked with many therapist and therapies and add training courses over the last 20 years, it will be easy to understand how I can be of assistance to the child and their learning environments as well as educate their parents how to help them further in their development educationally.
