My passion in life is to see my students succeed and reach their God-given potential. For over 25 years I have been working with young people from age 1 all the way through adulthood! My degree in Biology and Secondary Education got me started. I won awards in Biology and French.

I began working with 7th-9th graders,then 5th-8th graders and gradually worked my way down to Preschool and up to Adults! I spent over 15 years leading churches in Miami and Atlanta. I have taught a variety of subjects including Math (5th-8th), Science (4th-8th), French (7th-8th), Spanish (1st-12th), Bible (5th-Adult) and Sign Language (various ages). I tutor my own 10 year old daughter with her schoolwork.

My approach is simple: Make Learning Fun! I employ stories, object lessons and whatever it takes for the student to master the subject matter. The more senses you use the more likely one will retain information. I have a knack for assessing how an individual student learns best and then helping him/her grasp and master the subject. Algebra 1

I taught math grades 5-8 so I am very familiar with the foundations that lead to High School Math. I am also familiar with Algebra, Geometry and Trig. I excelled in all of these and can tutor in any of these subjects.

Biology

I am a master in biology. I have a BA in the subject and over 5 years of teaching it. My classroom has always been filled with experiments in various stages. The kids love my hands-on approach! Whether it's cell structure, Genetics or physiology--Biology is my love! I also have graduate work in the subject!

Chemistry

I received honors in Chemistry in college, receiving all A's and being chosen by the professor as the Top Student. My degree required both Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. When I graduated I taught all the sciences for 6 years, grades 5-9 in private schools. I began a Master's Degree in Science Education, but my education was interrupted by a move halfway across the country.

Prealgebra

Math was one of my strongest subjects. I received straight A's all the way from Algebra to Trigonometry. I enjoy the challenge of numbers, variables, geometry, etc. that comprise PA. My strategy is to draw pictures and make math visual--a plus for boys and those visually oriented. Few teachers use this method, but it works!!! My 5 years of experience teaching math give me a solid foundation to teach Pre-Algebra.

Reading

I love books and reading. I read to my daughter constantly as she was growing up. My work with elementary students included teaching them reading comprehension, whether is was in science, math or reading. For over 20 years I have worked with elementary students in teaching them how to master their reading skills. If you can't understand the words you can't enjoy the story.

English

English is tricky. One of the most difficult languages to learn! However, I have always excelled in English--straight As all the way! In teaching languages it was necessary to master my English skills. Over the 20 years of teaching, I have amassed a great number of techniques and memory devices for helping my students remember English grammar and composition!

Spelling

My spelling is impeccable! When I was in in 7th grade I once got 65 on my report card in Spelling. I questioned this because I had 90s on all my tests. The teacher had mistakenly read the line above mine in his grade book! He quickly apologized and corrected my grade to 99%. Combine my sense of humor with my story-telling and you have a winning combination. I also employ mnemonic devices and "tricks" to help my students remember how to spell words! They love it!

Elementary Math

I have a 4th grade daughter whom I help in math regularly. I taught 5th-8th grade math for over 6 years. I am well qualified to teach math. It has always been one of my strongest subjects. I have learned over these 20 years of teaching some tricks for making it fun!

Zoology

I taught all biological sciences grades 5-8 for 5 years, full-time.

Sign Language

I studied Sign Language in NY, Denver, St. Louis and taught in Sign Language in Omaha.
