Born in the mountains of North Carolina, I grew up in a family shaped by literature. My mother was a poet, and my father was an English teacher. Education has long run in my family. My passion for writing and literature is fueled by a familial tendency toward education and an inherent love of fiction.
After attending Emory University for a degree in English, I returned once more to the mountains to obtain a Master's degree in English, Education. During my graduate program, I taught college freshman literature and composition classes. I also worked as a tutor in the university's writing center.
After I finished my graduate degree, I returned to Georgia and began teaching high school English literature and writing classes as well as similar classes at Kaplan University online. I moved from the online world of teaching to community college teaching with a move to Perimeter College.
I now focus my time on teaching high school Advanced Placement classes and teaching students how to pass difficult multiple choice and writing tests. I also have a solid background in Regent's exam preparatory instruction.
I have a dry sense of humor and a deep and abiding love of coffee. I'm currently at work on my first book. I look forward to meeting you and helping you feel more confident about yourself as a writer, a close reader, and a test taker. Your success is my goal!
