I love working with students of all ability levels and thinking of creative ways to approach learning with my students! Having taught for the past decade in public schools, I've worked with gifted students as well as those with various disabilities such as autism and learning disabilities.

Adobe Photoshop

I have worked in graphic design for many years, assisting photographers with their post processing needs. I also do photography myself as a hobby and side business. I use Adobe Photoshop for all my post processing needs.

Elementary (K-6th)

Most of my formal teaching experience has been with 6th and 7th grade students (6+ years), but before I obtained my teaching license, I substitute taught in elementary schools regularly and always enjoyed it.

Being a certified teacher with a Specialist degree from Valdosta State University, I feel I have much to offer students in the area of study skills. I am certified in 9 fields including math, ELA, science, special education, and social studies and have taught professionally for the last 6+ years.

Special Needs

I am a certified Special Education Teacher, with 6 years working with students with disabilities in public schools. I have taught students with various disabilities including ADHD/ADD, dyslexia, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism/Aspergers, and others.

Photography

I started studying photography at Daytona Beach Community College in the mid 1990s, before digital photography had taken over the scene. I've since swapped out my dark room for Photoshop and do photography as a hobby and part time business. I do mostly family photography for pay, and enjoy it immensely.

Salsa Dancing

I enjoy dancing Salsa, especially Cuban style Salsa, which is called Rueda. Five years ago, when I lived in Texas, my husband and I were regular instructors for the beginner level Rueda class. This class teaches the basic footwork and beginner turns.

ADD/ADHD

I am certified to teach Special Education in the state of Georgia and have 6+ years teaching experience working directly with students with disabilities. Whether in the general education classroom, gifted classes, or resource classes, I've never had a year without at least one student with ADD/ADHD! I have patience and many helpful strategies to aid children with ADD/ADHD as they learn to overcome their challenges and achieve their goals.

Anthropology

I received my BA in International Affairs in 2002, with a minor in Anthropology. Aside from my formal education, I've spent a great deal of time traveling to other countries and am always fascinated with cultures other than my own. I've taught African and Asian studies for two years.

Aspergers

I am certified to teach Special Education in the state of Georgia and have 6+ years teaching experience working directly with students with disabilities. I have had numerous students on my caseload with Aspergers over the years. I enjoy helping students with Aspergers achieve their goals and find that I often learn as much from them as they do from me!

Autism

I am certified to teach Special Education in the state of Georgia and have 6+ years teaching experience working directly with students with disabilities. I have had numerous students on my caseload with Autism over the years. I enjoy helping students with Autism achieve their goals and find that I often learn as much from them as they do from me!

Dyslexia

I am certified to teach Special Education in the state of Georgia and have 6+ years teaching experience working directly with students with disabilities. Whether in the general education classroom, gifted classes, or resource classes, I've never had a year without at least one student with Dyslexia! I have patience and many helpful strategies to aid children with Dyslexia as they learn to overcome their reading challenges.

Social Studies

I have a Specialist Degree in education and hold a GA teacher's certification in 9 fields including Social Science (4-8) and Special Education Social Science (cognitive levels P-5 and 4-8). I have taught Social Studies for 5 of my 6+ years teaching professionally.
