I have been a story teller since I could talk. My childhood role as teacher when we played school became a reality when I chose to attend Mercer University, majoring in English and minoring in psychology.

With that degree I became a language arts teacher for two years, teaching reading, grammar, composition, and literature to seventh and eighth grade students. When Counseling attracted me, I earned an M ED in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Georgia. I worked as a middle school counselor the year before I married. My husband and I moved to Boston for a year. That year I taught sixth grade.

Returning to Georgia with a husband in graduate school at Georgia Tech, I finished my own degree while working as a high school counselor.

My husband's job search sent us to Mexico, Missouri, where I taught third grade and became a mother. For the mama part I took a few years to stay home with my child and play homemaker. I caught up with the reading I didn't have time to do while teaching and made baby clothes.

When we decided to return to Georgia to be near family, I got a teaching job and allowed my husband to start a photography studio. For seven years I served as department chair and taught language arts. I helped in the photography studio, assisted with the wedding photography, and took graduate classes.

After fifteen years working in education I retired and spent more time at the studio. During that time I began telling stories on paper. I did get back to that first statement.

I've been writing novels and editing for friends. Mac computers won me over and I learned to use one.

I taught two classes in creative writing for home schooled students and parents and did some tutoring.

I now proof materials for an online writing organization and edit for Gilded Dragonfly Books.

I love teaching, whether as a critique partner or contest judge or an editor. I need to mark errors and I love to explain how to fix them.

My daughter is now 40. I thought I'd throw that in.

My teaching methods depend on the student's needs. While I will help with homework and teach concepts, I don't do the student's homework. I can use text materials the student needs and or create materials needed.

ACT English

I have a BA in English from Mercer University and taught language arts for 15 years. I taught composition, how to write essays and taught grammar and punctuation.

I use a variety of methods to help students and adults plan and write with ease and confidence. Sometimes we go back to early grammar lessons to build confidence.

We use sample questions to help students learn to interpret them.

I am also a professional editor and writer.

English

I have a BA in English from Mercer University and taught language arts for 15 years. My teaching experience combined with my degree qualify me to teach. I held a teaching certificate until I upgraded to one for Counseling. My tutoring students' parents keep returning to me when they need me.

Grammar

To whom it might concern:

I taught language arts for third grade, and sixth through twelfth grades over a period of fifteen years, serving as department chair and go-to person when the textbooks had no teacher editions or answer sections. I believe that would qualify me to tutor students in grammar.

Proofreading

Proofreading and teaching others to proof their work and the work of others would be a good fit for me. I have served as proofreader for an online organization for romance writers for more than three years because I tend to spot errors others have missed. My writing critique partners count on me to spot missing commas and punctuation errors, as well as typos and mistakes spell check can't catch.

Reading

I have a BA in English from Mercer University and taught language arts for 15 years. As part of my training I worked with reading programs. As the language arts department chairman I planned reading programs. Since I love to read, I look for ways to help kids and adults want to read more and read well.
