Elementary (PreK-5th) Tutor plus ESL and computer skills for all ages

I am currently employed with Rome City Schools. I taught 6 months of the school year in first grade. I will be teaching 3rd grade reading and writing next year. I graduated from Berry College, a highly recognized school by local school systems when hiring teachers. I am certified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to teach preschool through fifth grade (copy of this certificate available upon request). I have done coursework and field experience in Reading Diagnostics which involved a thorough report on a 2nd grader's fluency and comprehension in reading. I have designed and implemented intervention lessons for this student and was able to show growth. I can determine children's reading ability (in fluency and comprehension). I can determine what sight words they know and implement the 7 step VAKT method to increase their knowledge of sight words. I can improve their reading fluency and comprehension.

I have tutored in a daycare setting as the after school teacher with all grades, pre-K through fifth. I have had experience teaching the Georgia Performance Standards and I am becoming familiar with the new Common Core, and I know what is expected of our students at each grade level. I know the pressures of the CRCT and how to make learning more enjoyable with less stress. I can also improve your child's self-image as a reader by showing them how to enjoy reading and how much they have grown! I am also able to tutor in any subject at the elementary level. I can tutor reading and writing at any grade level (pre-K through adult). I can even tutor in basic computer skills.

Writing

Writing is my favorite subject. I am confident in my knowledge of syntax and grammar. I can help anyone at any age find enjoyment in writing with less frustration. I have many techniques for brainstorming, and I have had experience teaching in every genre. Everyone can be a great writer once they discover how to put their ideas on paper.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to teach preschool through fifth grade (T-4 with an ESOL Endorsement). I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.

General Computer

I have used computers since I can remember. I am very experienced with Microsoft Word. I can teach general computer usage, turning it on, printer, mouse, keyboard, internet, basic programs, navigating files, changing settings, trouble shooting. My husband owns his own computer business and he has taught me some about computers. Most of what I know, I've learned from using a computer. I can teach basics for Power Point and Excel.

Phonics

I am a graduate of Berry College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. As part of my coursework, I learned teaching strategies for literacy including phonics education. I have materials that can be used in teaching phonics through word sorts and games. I know the latest research on phonics development.

Study Skills

I graduated from Berry College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. My T-4 teaching certificate (grades pk through fifth) includes an endorsement in ESOL instruction. I have taken two courses specifically for ESOL instruction. I have taken Spanish in grades k-12 and the first two years of college. I am an intermediate speaker and reader of Spanish. I can write but limitedly in Spanish. I am very familiar with the Latin American culture.
