Hello, my name is Richard G and I am a Certified High School Teacher available to tutor mathematics or science. I graduated from Georgia Tech with an engineering degree. I have extensive experience in practical application of math and science to every day and technical problems. A plus is that I have experience with Geometer Sketchpad software and Graphing Calculators.

I have trained in the new Math I and II curriculum and have access to the unit worksheets provided by the DOE. The new GPS curriculum in Georgia (Math I, II and III) is very rigorous and can be a big jump for parents wanting to help students with homework. My experience and training will help your family bridge that gap.

I am accepting general students needing improvement in math and science or advanced students requiring a more rigorous and challenging experience.

ASVAB

My qualifications for tutoring for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery are as follows:

Bachelor of Engineering Degree from Georgia Institute of Technology 1973
Registered Professional Engineer in Michigan 1984 through 2005
Have 30 years of engineering experience in industrial control of manufacturing systems in the automotive assembly, food and beverage, paper and pulp, household consumer (cleaning) products, aluminum extrusion, and munitions industries. During engineering career conceptualized, estimated, designed, installed, and commissioned complex control systems using, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic components and subsystems. Applied motor control systems, variable frequency controllers, DC motor controls, program logic controllers and PCs to the control of industrial processes.
I passed the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators tests in the areas of High School Mathematics and General Science in 2007 and 2008.
I currently teach Mathematics in High School and have tutored high school students in math, physics and the ASVAB in that some of my students have wanted help in getting a better score on the ASVAB.
Have knowledge of construction and renovation in that I have made drywall, framing, plumbing, electrical, deck, gutter, roofing, fascia and soffit repairs to my own home and to others. I have repaired my appliances and yard equipment including washer, dryer, lawnmower, tiller, chipper/shredder and chain saw. This includes repair of small gasoline engines.
My least experience area may be in the automotive information area but I am familiar with the concepts of the internal combustion engine and basic repairs required.

Praxis

I took and passed the Georgia GACE (the Georgia equivalent of the PRAXIS) in high school math and broad field science. The math test involves prealgebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus and statistics. The most difficult part is the requirement to understand some of the differentiation and integration techniques such as the chain, product and quotient differentiation rules and integration by parts. The statistics usually involves a large sample problem for which graphing calculators are very useful. The science includes questions in the ares of biology, earth and space science, general science, physics, mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and chemistry. In addition to teaching mathematics, I have tutored physics and chemistry.
