Thank you so much for taking the time to consider me as your tutor. I have always known that teaching was my future, even from the tender age of six as I "chalked" up my white walled room teaching the basics of reading to my stuffed animal and doll collection. It is most definitely a calling in my life.
I am currently a college advisor/instructor at a small college here in the Atlanta area. I was born to teach, and miss it dearly. The opportunity to tutor has always been a part of my life, and I adore working with my students. In the past, I relied heavily on word of mouth, and was able to pick and choose the students I would have time to mentor and teach. A geographic change in the last few years changed that, and I am wanting to get back into the tutoring arena. I have worked on the High School and College level, but am not opposed to teaching at any age or level. Working with behavioral issues has always been something I excelled at, so if your student needs that extra push and a firm authority figure, I am that. I teach through example in my own career and life, along with many personal materials I have designed or secured throughout my adult life. I look forward to working with each of you.
If there is one thing I can impart on you as you start this search for the perfect match for you or your child, please remember that there are so many ways to teach. I am sure none of them are WRONG, but not all of them are RIGHT for you or your loved one. Our children have minds similar to a sponge. We can soak a sponge slowly with drops of water at a time, or we can use numerous drops from different angles and fill that sponge up. I have found throughout my teaching career and beyond that working with a student can be successful in many different ways. One student can hear me read out loud and learn, while another has to follow along with his eyes and fingers along with hearing. Each one is unique, and it is up to the instructor to find the best way to soak that sponge. :) Good luck in your search
