Hi Everybody,

My name is Rhynita, and I may be the ideal tutor for you!

I am currently attending Grand Canyon University (Online)studying to receive my BA in Early Childhood Education. I and I attended Valdosta Technical College, now Wiregrass for Early childhood Education which I received my TJCC Certificates in Child Development Specialist and Child Care Manager. I attended Turner Job Corps and received Certificates in Data Entry Clerk, Office Assistant, and Word Processor which indicates my skills with computers and software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (Which I love to do). In the past, I tutored students in Reading for two years in the school system.

Besides tutoring, I also have a lot of work experience as an after school program teacher in the school system. With that, I assist the students with homework, writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and everything else they needed to get done. I also incorporated working with computers with the students. I also, have working with student working in daycare as a teacher for many years.

In general, I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences in addition to worksheets. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the student.

Vocabulary

I will help with vocabulary. Teaching the meanings of words, how they can be mutilple spelling of a word that sound the same but with different meanting. Also teach you words with the same meaning to it.

Microsoft Excel

Will help and explain all the functions in using excel.

Microsoft Word

Assist with all of the functions in Microsoft word. I will show and explain in the simpliest way and teach this hands on.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Will show you the easiest way to understand and use the powerpoint. I will show you all the functions such as adding music, pictures, and turning your presentation into a well organized slide show.

Writing

I will help with organize your writing skills. Explain why punctuation is key in writing. Also, help with what word goes where. Explain how you can figure out when to start a new paragraph and when to end a paragraph.

Spelling

I will help with the different spelling of words and explain the different of spellings to those words that sound the same.

Elementary (K-6th)

I worked in an elementary school as a tutor and an after school teacher for two years. I worked with kindergarten through 4th grade but it was mainly first graders with a few kindergarteners.

Phonics

Phonics is a method of teaching reading based on the sounds of letters, groups of letters, and syllables. I have two years in teaching phonics in an elementary school system as I was tutoring reading. I also taught an after school program which included phonics, as well as other subjects students may need help with along with homework help. Currently I am in school to receive my BA in Early Childhood Education to become a teacher.

Study Skills

I have two years in teaching and assisting in Study skills in an elementary school system as I was tutoring reading and when I was teaching an after school program. The after school program included phonics, homework help, help with studying with tests and assignment that are being taught. Currently I am in school to receive my BA in Early Childhood Education to become a teacher.

Special Needs

I have one year experience with working with special needs when tutoring with the elementary school system in Atlanta,GA. I tutored them in reading, writing and then taught them in an after school school program that I taught. I have ensured that appropriate strategies are being used in the classroom to assist individual learning styles and provide success to all students with special needs. ADD/ADHD

I have five years experience with this because I have a friend who has this and I help him when he needs it. Also, I have one year experience dealing with this professionally in the elementary school system when I was tutoring in reading because one of my students had ADD/ADHD.

Microsoft Windows

I work on the computer all the time. I have been working with Windows since I was in 8th grade, which is around 15 years of experience.

Sociology

I have took and passed a sociology class in college. I have taught sociology for a year.

Speech

I have two years experience with teaching speech to my tutoring students in the Atlanta public school system (Elementary school level). I have assisted students with feeling comfortable with speaking in front of large groups and writing certain types of speeches (informative, persuasive, and demonstrative). Assisted students with how to communicate using speeches, conversations, and group work.
