Hello,
As a Ph.D. Organic Chemist, I have a love for the sciences in general and Chemistry in particular. During my study for my Ph.D. degree at the University of Florida, I also student taught General Chemistry lab and Organic Chemistry lab. In addition, I have taught Biology, Chemistry and Math as a high school teacher in Boston and as an Adjunct Faculty member in Florida.
I firmly believe that to be a well-rounded student, you must have a firm knowledge of the basics. Teaching the inter-connectedness of all subjects is how I approach tutoring. You need a strong grasp of the English language to perform all subjects and math forms the basis for all things scientific. A foreign language will always enhance your knowledge of the English language.
I am a strong advocate for teaching students how to study; as this is an essential part of the learning process. Once you, the student understands how to study, you are then in a position to move forward and excel, no matter what the subject matter that you are attempting to conquer.
I have 10+ years research experience in chemistry and spent the past ten years as a Senior Research Scientist. During my tenure, I have served as the Vice-Chair and Chairperson to the American Chemical Society’s Committee on Corporation Associates. This role allowed me to represent the company in a variety of capacities. I have served as an industry panelist for a number of forums. In addition I have written several peer-review articles for publication, as well as two articles for in Chemistry Magazine helping undergraduate students decide whether or not they should pursue graduate school and how to secure a scientific internship.
