I believe that studying music is about much more than just learning to play an instrument; it's about growth. Whether you are interested in growing as a singer, guitarist, pianist, or as a musician in general, I want to make a difference in your musical journey. I believe in a mentoring style approach to studying music, rather than a classroom/lesson style of learning environment. As we begin the mentoring process, your individual musical goals will be taken into consideration, along with your learning styles and previous experience, so that our mentoring relationship starts off from the right place, going in the right direction, and at the right pace. If I have the opportunity to work with you in any capacity, I will work hard to help you learn musicianship and teamwork, and you will see yourself moving toward achieving your musical goals with confidence and excellence.

Atlanta-based worship pastor, Daniel C., has been involved in worship ministry for over a decade. Daniel graduated in 2005 from the Artios Conservatory and interned at Grace Fellowship Church in Snellville, GA, as a part of Aaron Keyes’ worship school from 2008-2009. Currently, Daniel is on staff as a worship leader at First Baptist Church in Snellville, GA and is studying Religion/Biblical Counseling at Luther Rice University. As a follower of Christ, Daniel’s passion is God’s glory, as shown in Christ by His sacrificial gift of love. As a worship leader, his mission is to foster a larger view of God among all those he meets.

Daniel pursues his passion and mission by focusing on congregational worship in the local and global church. He believes that music is a powerful gift that God has given us with which we can teach and learn Truth about God, express ourselves creatively as a reflection of God’s nature, and respond to God’s revelation of Himself.

Daniel believes that lives are changed not out of a sense of duty or because of human willpower, but as a result of seeing the true magnificence of God in His holiness and love.

On May 15, 2010, Daniel married the beautiful Mary L in Snellville, GA, where they now happily reside.

Music Theory

I love music theory. I have 15 years of general music experience, including 12 years of public performance, 10 years of teaching experience, 10 years of songwriting and composition experience, and 7 years of music leadership experience. I took classical and southern gospel piano lessons, and taught myself pop/rock and contemporary worship music for piano and guitar.

Ear Training

Ear training is just that: training. There is nothing magical about learning to play by ear or analyze music just by listening. There are simple practices and helps that can get a student on their way to having a proficient musical ear. I have 13 years of practice in music theory and ear training. I can analyze the harmonic progression for pop/rock and contemporary worship music on the first listen with very good accuracy. I can dictate melody lines and I know basic and advanced intervals.

General Music

I have 15 years of general music experience, including 12 years of public performance, 10 years of teaching experience, 10 years of songwriting and composition experience, and 7 years of music leadership experience. I took classical and southern gospel piano lessons, and taught myself pop/rock and contemporary worship music for piano and guitar.

Guitar

I have 14 years of experience as a guitarist and 8 years of experience teaching introductory and intermediate guitar in many genres, including Pop, Rock, Classical, and Contemporary Worship Music.

Piano

I have 14 years of piano experience, mainly self-taught, but I also studied classical piano for 2 years, with extended studies in classical music on my own. I have 12 years of public performance experience in pop/rock and contemporary worship music.

Voice (Music)

I have 13 years of vocal performance experience in classical, pop/rock, and contemporary worship music genres. I have 7 years of experience in vocal coaching.

Songwriting

With 10 years of songwriting experience and dozens of songs that have been used in Christian Worship, my mentoring in songwriting can be very helpful, especially for a student who has shown interest and talent in songwriting and needs help learning about the craft and tricks of the trade of songwriting.
