I love teaching and helping students learn United States History! While student teaching, I had the pleasure to facilitate learning in an 11th grade United States History classroom. I love making History fun and relating past history to real world examples today. One of my favorite lessons was comparing the attack on Pearl Harbor to the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11.
I understand that history is not always a students' favorite subject. In fact, with my experience I have learned that many successful students learn and understand History by using Culturally Responsive Pedagogy. What does that mean?! It means that by using real world examples today and comparing and contrasting events that occurred 200 years ago, it is helpful to facilitate students learning and understanding of History.
History is not something that we should only think of in the past. History is a subject we learn how not to make mistakes upon our present and our future!
