Dear future students and your families,
So, who am I and what can you expect?
I was born and raised in France and am the product of a French classical education...6 years of Latin and 5 of Greek...and, of course French. "So, you're going to teach ME, English?" you might ask. Good question. My mother was American and an English major. She made sure I spoke correctly (mothers will correct you) and, because I was a prolific reader, made all the English classics available to me. Grammar, you say, what about that? I would respond that both Latin and French grammar are a tremendous help in understanding and teaching English grammar. Further, without good grammar your best efforts will be wasted when you take up pen and paper to write.
I have been teaching Latin, French, and English in "classical" schools for the past fifteen years but have decided to focus on one on one opportunities rather than facing a classroom full of students where, time constraints and other responsibilities keep the teacher from being able to meet the needs of all the students.
What am I like as a teacher? I'm demanding and very thorough and want you to gain the confidence and skills necessary to overcome difficulties, get ahead in your studies, or just stay on top of your studies. But I'm also very patient and want to inculcate in you a love of learning that will last beyond your tutoring sessions.
My students think I'm pretty funny; I do think a sense of humor goes a looooong way in making learning AND teaching a lot more pleasant.
I will look forward to meeting you soon.
