Hello! My name is Scott. I have two masters degrees from Georgia Tech (Applied Mathematics 1994, Statistics 1995) and I'm a full-time math instructor at Chattahoochee Technical College. I speak clear, easy to understand English and offer over 12 years of expert math teaching and tutoring experience. I'm highly skilled in all areas of math including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and statistics. I'm patient and detailed with my explanations, helping students understand not just how to work a problem, but why the problem works that way. From my days as a governor's honors high school student in Cobb County, to my perfect 800 on the math SAT, to my days as a highest honor graduate at Georgia Tech, to a rich local career as a high school and college teacher, I can offer you a level of expertise and assistance that few tutors can. I'm known for making math look easy... because once you understand what to do, it can be. Just as I've helped students learn to master math in my classroom, I can help anyone with a willing attitude succeed.
I've taught high school and college algebra for over 10 years. Algebra 1 was one of the first high school math classes I ever taught, and I continue to teach the same concepts in College Algebra today. Algebra is the science of problem solving, and I can explain any algebra topic simply and clearly. Some topics may require a review of related basic skills.
I've taught high school and college algebra for over 10 years. Algebra 2 was one of the first high school math classes I taught and I continue to teach the same concepts in college. Whether Algebra or "Math 1/2" or CCGPS, the algebra remains the same. I can explain any algebra topic simply and clearly, though many topics require a review of related basic math skills.
My qualifications for teaching and tutoring Calculus are extensive, but I also pride myself on simple, clear explanations. I took calculus AB in high school and scored a perfect 5 on the AP Exam and 800 on the math SAT. Then I took honors Calculus at Georgia Tech and made straight A's. I served as a undergraduate and graduate teaching assistant, where I answered student questions about homework assignments and later taught my own courses. Since then I have years of high school and college teaching experience, including teaching pre-calculus and tutoring local Calculus and pre-calculus students.
Geometry is a key portion of the Georgia Performance Standards curriculum. I have taught high school geometry in honors, standard, and integrated formats (Math 1, Math 2, etc.). I have also applied these concepts at the college level. Geometry problems can be made simple when the appropriate rules and relationships are recognized and put to use.
I took several linear algebra courses while at Georgia Tech. Matrices are one of my favorite topics in all of math. I've seen them used in advance statistics classes and enjoyed teaching the linear algebra portion of the Calculus sequence as a graduate student. If linear algebra is throwing you off track, I can help.
Basic algebra skills are crucial for developing proficiency at higher levels on mathematics. I can help any student strengthen their basic skills, setting a solid foundation for success in their current middle or high school math curriculum, as well as college work - now or down the road.
I presently teach Precalculus at Chattahoochee Tech. I have also taught Calculus at the college level, so I am able to help prepare students for the highest levels of math. What sets me apart is the ability to provide simple and clear explanations of advanced concepts.
Probability and Statistics is one of my favorite areas of math. I first studied these topics at the Governor Honors Program the summer before my senior year of high school and continued those studies in my coursework at Georgia Tech, where I obtained a Master of Science degree in Statistics. I have taught Statistics, AP Statistics, and/or College Statistics for over 5 years. Every year I taught AP, had at least one student score a perfect 5 on the AP exam. You will be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable or qualified probability and statistics tutor in the metro Atlanta area.

Trigonometry is the study of measures within triangles, which leads to the important functions sine, cosine, and tangent. Understanding the relationship between these functions allows the student to find missing side and angle measures given other clues about a triangle. With extensive experience, I am able to guide students into unlocking the mystery of right triangles as well as other types of triangles.
