Taught College Prep Biology
, Repeater Physical Science
, and Environmental Science/Georgia Graduation Test Remediation.
Students' End Of Course Test (EOCT) scores matched comparable classes taught by master teachers at a School of Excellence.
8/2007-8/2011 Hart County High School
Taught College Preparatory Chemistry
Started the first science club. Monthly meetings included activities such as Mentos Nucleation, Model Rocketry, and Chromatography.
Coached 14 high risk children pass the Georgia High School Graduation Test.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Secondary Education from the University of Northern Colorado- formerly known as Colorado State Teacher’s College and ranked by the Carnegie Commission among the top 10 teacher education universities in America for the past 60 years. Completed 185 total credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.06, while working two jobs. Currently I am on Sabbatical from full time teaching while I finish my Masters degree in Biology.
My tutoring approach is simple; Mutual respect and meeting students on their terms. The later includes, but is not limited to designing engaging lessons/enrichment to help students understand material. As a chemistry teacher, I helped students understand the intricacies of the periodic table by having them write stories, write songs/raps, write poems about periodocity.
My goal is to help students understand material; not just memorize facts and concepts. I believe that "education is the great liberator" (Ropo Oguntimehin).
If you are looking for a teacher that truly cares about helping your child, loves science and teaching, then you found him.
Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
