Practical application of knowledge, that's wisdom. Of all the things I've done, teaching is my first love. While I have many years experience in the working world, I am fascinated with the way each individual learns. I enjoy finding innovative ways to impress the subject on a student's memory. My knowledge does you no good until I can adequately transmit it so you can understand it.

Most people list public speaking as one of their greatest fears; I've been doing it regularly for over thirty years. I have been a Spanish-English interpreter for over 8 years and during that time have done private tutoring for English-speaking students wanting to learn Spanish and for Spanish speakers learning English as a second language. In addition, I have over twenty years of experience in various office settings, using computers in multiple applications. English grammar, vocabulary building and proofreading are my specialties.

I'd love to assist you in improving your skills, and preparing for a bright future.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

Since 2002, I've given private lessons in English as a second language. Because of my background as both a volunteer and professional Spanish-English interpreter, explaining the similarities and differences between the two language is my specialty. I'm a patient tutor, willing to explore the best means of learning for each individual. How to minimize an accent is one of my goals, so that your spoken English will be easily understood.

Desde el año 2002, he dado clases individuales a personas deseadas a aprender el inglés. Debido de mi experiencia como interprete voluntaria y profesional, mi especialidad es explicar las similitudes y las distinciones entre los dos idiomas. Soy tutor paciente, y dispuesta a explorar la manera mas eficaz para el aprendizaje de cualquier alumno. Una de mis metas para los estudiantes es minimizar su accento para que su habla inglesa sea facilmente entendida.

Public Speaking

Over thirty years experience in public speaking, whether before small groups of fifty, up to speaking before audiences of over 1,000. I can help you with how to prepare an outline, the introduction, body and conclusion of your speech, secrets of good illustrations, conversational delivery, timing, extemporaneous speaking and more.

Spanish

I've been interpreting in Georgia State Courts and in the medical field for over 9 years and have over 7 years' experience in private tutoring of Spanish and English. I love to teach and my students have always done well.

Glazed eyes. Yawns. Fidgeting. All of these are signs that a speaker has lost his or her audience. Nothing is guaranteed to produce more nervousness than an audience that can’t wait for you to pronounce your last sentence. How will an outline help you? An outline adds structure. It is the skeleton that supports the body of your speech. You know where you are going and it is easier to take... read more
