Bonjour! Je m'appelle Dionna. I've been studying French since middle school in 1998. That comprises more than 12 years now (DOUZE ANS!) I've learned in France and Quebec, Canada and continue to learn today. I received my Bachelor's degree in French in May of 2012. While acquiring that degree, I was the French Club President. My passion was to make learning and practicing French fun and intriguing enough for French Club members to want to practice it as often as they could with games, quizzes, everyday activities, fun facts, music, and film.
I love a chance to learn French and inspire someone else to learn the language. Apparently it runs in my family: my grandmother studied French in college and taught grade school; my mom studied French in high school and teaches about medicine; my brother studied two other languages and tutors math. It is engrained in my family to know languages and pass on knowledge to others. It is now my turn to step up to the plate.
If you choose to study with me or enroll your child in my care, I assure I'll warm your or your kid's desire to learn French with all the fire within me continually burning with my passion for language.
If you've come here for ESL tutoring, I've been a copy editor for an English newspaper and an avid dictionary explorer. I've studied the International Phonetic Alphabet and worked under an ESL teacher at Georgia Southern for a year. I highly value proper grammar and pronunciation of all languages, and I'm proficient in English and French to assist people with correct usage of them both.
If you're interested in studying theater with me, I've been on stage since I was about 9 or 10 years old. According to my audience, I have a true knack for acting, but along the years, I've had a greater interest in working behind the stage as a director and writer. I studied theater as a minor in college and have had substantial roles in works like "Big River: The Musical" (Alice), "Raisin in the Sun" (Beneatha), "Piece of My Heart," (Steele), and "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" (Bertha). I've taken Directing, Acting, and Scene Design classes to better help me understand bringing a stage to life with a team.
