I have taught for over 12 years in both elementary and middle school settings, as both a general education and special education teacher in various settings and subject areas. I also have six years of experience in a K-12 private school setting. My degree is in special education (learning disabilities), and I also hold the reading endorsement and elementary and middle grades English certifications. Currently, I serve as a 3rd grade Special Education Teacher in two General Education classrooms. Both my teaching and tutoring styles encompass building a rapport with students in order to form a connection and learn how each student best learns based on learning styles/preferences, interests, and learning needs. I put the student first in all I do, employing the most up-to-date research-based effective teaching strategies to maximize learning gains and academic acceleration. In addition, I communicate with parents regularly on their child's progress and how they can partner in the tutoring process and maximize the learning gains.

I also serve as a Master Digital Educator, providing professional development to educators in integrating technology into instruction in a hands-on, higher-level thinking, project/challenge based approach. Also, in the professional developer role, I have created/facilitated reading endorsement, language arts, and teaching strategy courses and am a Certified Content Enhancement Routine Professional Developer.

As a Peer Assistance & Review (PAR) Teacher. I had the honor and significant privilege of mentoring and evaluating first year teachers and teachers needing professional assistance. My role was part of the new teacher evaluation system, which has drawn both state and national attention for its cutting edge approach in empowering teachers to take control and drive their excellence and growth in the teaching profession. I am extremely proud to have been part of this ground breaking movement in educational professional development!

Hands down beyond my experience, my favorite attribute and compliment I lay claim to is mastering being a life long learner. I continually seek training and knowledge that not just makes me a better educator, but more importantly helps teachers and students achieve higher levels of learning, much of which I impart into other educators through face-to-face and online professional development.

It is through passion, educational background, experience, and expertise that I strive for excellence in all I do. I have a heart for learning and truly believe that all students can learn. I look forward to serving you and your family.

Kristie is awesome!! — My student has had three lessons with Kristie. She seems to be more confident with the math than before. I looked at all the tutors in the area and Kristie's work with special needs children is the reason I chose her. She is definitely the right person for the job! The review Kristie wrote for 11/12/13 is very encouraging. We have talked with our son and daughter-in-law and they told us that the ...
