I have always believed that a firm education begins with a patient and diligent instructor. Being surrounded by excellent teachers in my youth and adult life, I realize that a teacher's attitude directly affects a student's understanding of any subject. As an English tutor, I am committed not only to helping students not only understand their current assignments, but also the concepts that underlie each writing style.
I received my B.A. in English (emphasis on creative writing) from Kennesaw State University. I am currently pursuing my graduate degree in Kennesaw's MAPW (Master of Arts in Professional Writing) program. Throughout college, I have worked in several organizations on campus. Among them being the Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project, a program designed to help educators become more effective teachers of writing.
My tutoring style is very open. Rather than a rigid monologue, I prefer a continuous rapport with the students I am assisting. In this way, learning becomes an organic process and one that is specifically tailored to student needs. Being a student myself, I am all too aware that teaching methods to be adaptable. In my spare time, I enjoy writing, spending time with family, and studying/instructing the martial arts. I look forward to sharing my experience with you!
