Hello,

My name is Adrienne, and I am a Kennesaw State University alum with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. I have passed the GACE (013) Middle Grades Math Exam. I have been tutoring for years and really enjoy the experience.

My experience:

I have tutored all grade levels from Kindergarten to College Level Mathematics. I even helped a mother of 9 home school her children, which ranged in ages from 1 year to 13 years old.

My Tutoring Style:

Math is probably one of the most complex subjects and students have a hard time relating to it. I try to make my tutoring lessons unique by finding out my students strengths and interest and use that in the lessons. When the student relates to the subject it's much easier to grasp the concepts. (Also it's much easier to answer the questions, "When will I ever use this?")

When tutoring a new student, I like to schedule a meeting prior to starting tutoring, to introduce myself, get an idea of what the student needs help with and gather material for lessons. I am open to communicating with the student's teacher to get an idea of where they may struggle and test dates. I believe this meeting makes the student more comfortable with the tutor and more willing to communicate with the tutor.

Adrienne's preparation for her tutoring sessions is thorough. There is follow up from the previous session with clear goals planned for the current session and specific instructions to be prepared for the next session. Adrienne models the behavior that a student needs to be successful in math. We also appreciate the extra lengths that Adrienne goes to such as communicating with the teacher and reviewing our daughter's online resources on her own time. She is a very generous and dedicated professional. We are fortunate to have her.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Complex number in standard form? (answer)

In order to get a complex number into standard form, you must not have any complex numbers in the denominator. So first we must simplify the problem. For clarity, I am going to write out the problem. (3-2i)(3-2i)(3+2i) _______________ ...

How to be Successful In Mathematics Math is a complicated subject. Students struggle with it, parents don’t feel comfortable helping with homework, and teachers find it impossible to “re-teach” every year. It is for these reasons that I feel having a good foundation in math is imperative. Students that have a great foundation feel confident and are not afraid of tackling a problem... read more
