I was a business executive for over 15 years and after my own children were grown, I went back to school to get my degree in English. I have BA degrees in history and English and I earned my MFA in English/creative writing in 2008. I am a Shakespeare scholar and a writer of historical fiction.
I have been a mentor to many writing students, many of whom have stayed in contact with me for years after they left the mentoring program. I have done volunteer work through non-profit literacy programs for seven years, teaching literacy to children, teenagers and adults and am currently teaching reading, writing and GED preparation at a community-based non-profit organization.
I believe in creating a nurturing, encouraging learning environment that helps students discover their own love of learning.
