As a high school freshman, I had a lot of trouble with Algebra I. Fortunately for me, I benefited from a string of extremely talented math educators during my 4 years in high school. It would be a pleasure to pass on that sense of fun and exuberance which should accompany any math education. Solving math problems should be similar to playing a game or solving a puzzle.
Additionally, I have always been distressed to hear young women describe their fear and/or discomfort with the subject of mathematics. There is no reason whatsoever why girls cannot be just as good at math as boys. It is my belief that most of this fear has been passed on to girls by their mothers and/or female teachers. I would hope to break that unfortunate chain through my enthusiastic approach to the subject.
