Hello, I am excited to get started working with you in seemingly tough subject areas such as chemistry, organic chemistry, and SAT topics. I have three years of experience tutoring General Chemistry, Organic I and II during college. I have helped classmates develop a thorough understanding of these subjects before obtaining a B.S. in chemistry. My research experience in organic chemistry allows me to emphasize organic mechanisms and reactions as well as their applications even for students taking chemistry on the MCAT and other subject-based tests.

Also, while in school I excelled in Algebra I, II and Calculus. While these topics may not seem encouraging, I can assure you that presenting the right perspective can lead to great success and higher confidence. I'm typically available during the week, so please let me know what time and arrangements may work best for you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

Earning a B.S. degree in chemistry has exposed me to a wide-range of chemistry courses. I especially have experience with ideal gas law, atomic structure such as orbitals, equilibrium reactions, bonding, acids & bases, and electrochemistry. My focus is making sure students understand the concepts well enough to be confident and self-proficient after tutor sessions.

Organic Chemistry

I am a recent graduate with a B.S. in chemistry. My research specialty is organic chemistry and synthetic methods. I scored a B in organic 1, an A in organic 2 and scored top 5 in the class on the ACS final exam. I have previously tutored students in chemistry in preparation for the MCAT, organic chemistry courses, and most recently biochemistry.

SAT Reading

Reading comprehension is an important skill for every student regardless of their field of study or interests. As a chemist for example, I spend months on certain occasions writing abstracts and research reports which requires me to read perplexing articles from professional chemists. Since then, I have been accepted to conferences, scored well on reading tests and continuously apply this useful skill in my research.
