Hi there potential student: I will be delighted to help you with the study of French, Spanish, Reading, Public Speaking. I have experience teaching all levels, pre-school, middle school, high school, college, and adults in the work force. I love teaching students and have the ability to understand an individual's hurdle to becoming a successful student. I have a long experience in teaching. My experience with teaching foreign languages has provided me with skills to teach reading,and writing. Very often, the difficulty lies in spending quality time with the study, and learning study techniques which assist in the retention of material learned. I have written foreign language course materials and tested the materials in my own classes. I have also worked as a department head, assisting new teachers to more fully realize their potential as successful teachers.

I have worked as a translator for Faxon Subscription Services, translating documents for this company for at least 8 years, prior to their leaving the state of Massachusetts. I have translated brochures for the office of District Attorney, serving the area of Brockton Mass. I have enjoyed teaching adults in the work place. My first experience was at a publishing firm, Horizon Publishing, Westwood, MA; my second experience was with the Brockton Housing Authority, teaching the rental agents, rental administrators. As a young individual, I learned a great deal about the world through my reading. When one grows up in a particular environment, knowledge can be limited by this environment, and access to a broader environment. Cultivating a desire for reading enhances one's knowledge and gives greater access to learning of one's own culture, and other cultures. This access is becoming increasingly important as the world globalizes.

Spanish

To learn Spanish in our ever changing world is a very important asset to add to one's resume. I have long been a fan of people being able to communicate in languages other than their native language. I was certified to teach English, as a teaching minor. Teaching English coincides very well with the teaching of foreign languages. The study of other languages gives one a greater appreciation of one's own language. Speaking English well in enhanced when one has the opportunity to add to one's vocabulary. Having a broad vocabulary adds to a person's credibility and to a person's ability to communicate well, orally and in writing.

SAT Reading

I believe in the ability to read well. The ability to read well is of paramount importance to being able to carefully analyze
viewpoints and proposals that are espoused by national leaders. Sometimes, I fear that soundbites, surfing the internet will eclipse the need or the ability to read.

Study Skills

Good study skills require good organizational skills on the part of the student. It also asks the student to understand his or her strengths and to study these skills last. It is always a good idea to begin with the difficult courses first. Good study skills also involve writing and keeping good notes. Just reading the lesson is insufficient to retaining the lesson.

ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL is a perspective designed to assist foreign speaking students with the study of English. With my background in French and Spanish, I believe that I can be very helpful to foreign speaking individuals in the learning of English. Past experience has included the teaching of English to Japanese, Haitian and Portuguese students.

Public Speaking

I hold a regional state championship in a decathelon, state of Michigan as a high school student. I enjoyed winning seasons as a debator during my high school experience. I have worked very hard and I am very proud of my ability to speak with pure diction and an understanding of the English language. My speaking abilities are augmented by my ability to speak French and Spanish, broadening my vocabulary base.
